N₁ は N₂(place) です

Pattern

Used to state the location of a person, place, or thing. N₁ is the topic, and N₂(place) shows where it is.

State the topic with は, then indicate its location using a place noun and です.

Topic (N₁) + は + Place (N₂) + です

駅はあそこです。

えきはあそこです。

The station is over there.

電話は１階です。

でんわはいっかいです。

The telephone is on the first floor.

山田さんは会議室です。

やまださんはかいぎしつです。

Mr. Yamada is in the meeting room.

本は机の上です。

ほんはつくえのうえです。

The book is on the desk.

図書館は学校の隣です。

としょかんはがっこうのとなりです。

The library is next to the school.
