Explanation
The prefix お is placed before certain nouns to express politeness or respect toward the listener or the person being referred to. It can also be used for cultural and customary expressions, even when no respect is intended.
Usage
Used mainly before nouns, especially in polite speech. Some words always take お regardless of formality.
