Explanation
Indicates the person or source from whom you receive something, borrow, or learn.
Usage
Use に after the person or source before the verb to indicate who the action is received from. から can also be used, especially when receiving from an organization.
Formation
Source (person/organization) + に/から + Verb
Examples
私は 友達に 本を もらいました。
わたしは ともだちに ほんを もらいました。I received a book from my friend.
田中さんに ペンを 借りました。
たなかさんに ペンを かりました。I borrowed a pen from Mr. Tanaka.
先生に 英語を 習います。
せんせいに えいごを ならいます。I learn English from my teacher.
会社から パソコンを もらいました。
かいしゃから パソコンを もらいました。I received a computer from my company.
銀行から お金を 借りました。
ぎんこうから おかねを かりました。I borrowed money from the bank.
