Explanation
Indicates that an action has already been completed. Often used in questions and their answers.
Usage
Place もう before a verb in past tense (ました) to show the action is already finished. In negative answers, use まだです instead of Vませんでした when meaning 'not yet'.

Examples
もう 宿題を 終わりましたか。
もう しゅくだいを おわりましたか。Have you already finished your homework?
はい、もう 終わりました。
はい、もう おわりました。Yes, I have already finished.
いいえ、まだです。

もう 手紙を 書きました。
もう てがみを かきました。I have already written the letter.
もう ご飯を 食べましたか。
