Pattern

The particle で firmly marks the means of transportation when using movement verbs such as 行きます, 来ます, and 帰ります.

State exactly how you travel from one place to another. The noun before で must be the vehicle used. For walking, use あるいて without で.

Vehicle noun + で + 行きます／来ます／帰ります

バスで学校へ行きます。

バスでがっこうへいきます。

I go to school by bus.

友だちは自転車で来ました。

ともだちはじてんしゃできました。

My friend came by bicycle.

駅から歩いて帰ります。

えきからあるいてかえります。

I walk home from the station.
