Pattern
- 名 + より + 名 + のほう
Explanation
A way of expressing a preference or comparing the extent of two things, meaning '... is more ... than ...'. It is not usually used in negative statements.
Usage
Used when comparing two nouns to indicate that noun 2 has a higher degree of the quality than noun 1.
Formation
Attach より to noun 1, のほう to noun 2.
Examples
わたしより弟のほうが背が高いです。
わたしよりおとうとのほうがせがたかいです。My younger brother is taller than me.
ご飯よりパンのほうをよく食べます。
ごはんよりパンのほうをよくたべます。I eat bread more often than rice.
