Explanation
Used to express that something does not change or is not affected even if a certain condition exists. Often corresponds to 'even if', 'regardless of', or 'even'.
Usage
Can describe hypothetical conditions or factual situations. Sometimes used with もし, どんなに, or いくら, and also with interrogatives.
Formation
Attach も to the て-form of verbs/adjectives or to nouns; for negatives, use なくても.
Examples
雨が降っても、サッカーの試合は行います。
あめがふっても、サッカーのしあいはおこないます。Even if it rains, the soccer match will be held.
どんなに疲れても、宿題は終わらせます。
どんなにつかれても、しゅくだいはおわらせます。No matter how tired I am, I will finish my homework.
この本は難しくなくても、内容はとても深いです。
このほんはむずかしくなくても、ないようはとてもふかいです。Even if this book isn’t difficult, the content is very deep.
