〜てしまいます

Pattern

Used to express completion of an action (often sooner than expected) or regret over something done or that happened unintentionally.

Attach しまいます to the て-form of a verb to show that the action is finished completely or to convey regret or an unfortunate result.

Verb (て-form) + しまいます.

財布をバスの中に忘れてしまいました。

さいふをバスのなかにわすれてしまいました。

I accidentally left my wallet on the bus.

雨で靴がぬれてしまった。

あめでくつがぬれてしまった。

My shoes got wet because of the rain.

約束の時間を間違えてしまいました。

やくそくのじかんをまちがえてしまいました。

I got the appointment time wrong.
