〜てみます

Pattern

Used when trying something out to see how it works or turns out, or when testing something to gain information.

Attach みます to the て-form of a verb to indicate that you will try or test doing the action.

Verb (て-form) + みます.

この新しいゲームをやってみましょう。

このあたらしいゲームをやってみましょう。

Let's try playing this new game.

駅まで歩いてみましたが、意外と近かったです。

えきまであるいてみましたが、いがいとちかかったです。

I tried walking to the station, and it was surprisingly close.

日本料理を作ってみたいです。

にほんりょうりをつくってみたいです。

I want to try cooking Japanese food.
