Explanation
Used to report information you have heard or read from another source. Often paired with expressions indicating the origin of the information, such as ～によると, ～では, or ～で.
Usage
Passes on information obtained indirectly, typically from someone else's words or written material.
Formation
Attach そうです to the plain form of the verb, adjective, or noun phrase.
Examples
天気予報によると、明日は雪が降るそうです。
てんきよほうによると、あしたはゆきがふるそうです。According to the weather forecast, it will snow tomorrow.
新聞では駅前に新しい図書館ができるそうです。
しんぶんではえきまえにあたらしいとしょかんができるそうです。According to the newspaper, a new library will be built in front of the station.
先輩の話ではこの店のラーメンがとても美味しいそうです。
せんぱいのはなしではこのみせのラーメンがとてもおいしいそうです。According to my senior, the ramen at this shop is very tasty.
