Explanation
Used when your person or belongings are affected by the actions or behavior of another person, either directly or indirectly, or by an event. Often conveys a feeling of nuisance or annoyance caused by the action. Can also be used for actions that are not annoying but for which the speaker feels grateful.
Usage
When the behavior is unwanted, it often expresses frustration or inconvenience. If it is something appreciated, use forms like 〜てくれる or 〜てもらう.

Examples
駅で知らない人にかばんを踏まれました。
えきでしらないひとにかばんをふまれました。My bag was stepped on by a stranger at the station.
友だちにケーキを食べられてしまった。
ともだちにけーきをたべられてしまった。My cake was eaten by a friend.
家の前に自転車を置かれて困っています。
いえのまえにじてんしゃをおかれてこまっています。Someone left a bicycle in front of my house, and it’s causing trouble.
