〜くします／〜にします

Pattern

Used when somebody deliberately changes the state of something or makes a decision to set something in a certain way.

Attach します to the adverbial form of い-adjectives (〜く) or にします to な-adjectives and nouns to indicate a deliberate change or choice.

い-adjective → 〜くします; な-adjective/noun → 〜にします. Exception: いい → よくします.

部屋を明るくしました。

へやをあかるくしました。

I made the room brighter.

この部屋を静かにしてください。

このへやをしずかにしてください。

Please make this room quiet.

旅行の日程を短くします。

りょこうのにっていをみじかくします。

I will shorten the travel schedule.
