Unless A happens or is completed, B cannot happen or is not allowed.
Usage
Used to express that the second action is impossible or unacceptable until the first action is done. Often appears in warnings or formal instructions.
Formation
Attach to the て-form of a verb.
Examples
このアカウントは登録してからでないと使えません。
このアカウントはとうろくしてからでないとつかえません。You cannot use this account unless you register first.
医者に相談してからでなければ、この薬は飲まないほうがいいですよ。
いしゃにそうだんしてからでなければ、このくすりはのまないほうがいいですよ。You shouldn't take this medicine without first consulting a doctor.
問題の原因を調べてからでないと、解決策を出せません。
もんだいのげんいんをしらべてからでないと、かいけつさくをだせません。Unless we investigate the cause of the problem, we can't propose a solution.
