Explanation
Indicates that whenever one event occurs, another event always happens. Used to emphasize repeated occurrences.
Usage
Used to highlight the repeated nature of an action or occurrence each time a certain situation happens. Not used for everyday or naturally expected things.
Formation
Attach to the dictionary form of verbs or to nouns followed by の.
Examples
この橋を渡るたびに、子どもの頃の思い出がよみがえる。
このはしをわたるたびに、こどものころのおもいでがよみがえる。Every time I cross this bridge, childhood memories come back to me.
彼と話すたびに、新しい発見がある。
かれとはなすたびに、あたらしいはっけんがある。Every time I talk with him, I discover something new.
大会のたびに、この町には多くの観光客が訪れる。
たいかいのたびに、このまちにはおおくのかんこうきゃくがおとずれる。Every time a tournament is held, many tourists visit this town.
