〜たばかりだ

Pattern

Indicates that something happened only a short time ago. Emphasizes that the action was recent.

Used to describe a state right after an event has occurred. Often implies that not much time has passed since then.

Attach ばかりだ to the past tense form (た-form) of a verb.

彼は日本に来たばかりだ。

かれはにほんにきたばかりだ。

He just came to Japan.

新しい仕事を始めたばかりなので、まだ慣れていない。

あたらしいしごとをはじめたばかりなので、まだなれていない。

Since I just started my new job, I’m not used to it yet.
