普通形 + のだから

Explanation

Indicates that one fact naturally follows from another, and the other person is assumed to know this.

Usage

Used to express that something is a natural consequence, or when the speaker is making a judgment, giving advice, or trying to persuade someone. Often conveys a tone of 'since it is the case that...'.

Formation

Attach to verbs/adjectives in plain form. For na-adjectives and nouns, use な before のだから.

Examples

世界は広いのだから、知らない習慣があって当然だ。

せかいはひろいのだから、しらないしゅうかんがあってとうぜんだ。

Since the world is vast, it’s only natural that there are customs you don’t know.

君が一生懸命やっているのだから、結果はきっとついてくるよ。

きみがいっしょうけんめいやっているのだから、けっかはきっとついてくるよ。

Since you’re working so hard, the results will surely follow.

大切な会議があるのだから、遅刻しないようにしてください。

たいせつなかいぎがあるのだから、ちこくしないようにしてください。

Since there is an important meeting, please make sure not to be late.
