Explanation
Indicates that all necessary preparations are done, and the only thing left to do is the final action.
Usage
Often used to express a state where the last step is the only thing remaining.
Formation
Attach ばかりだ to the dictionary form of a verb describing the final remaining action.
Examples
旅行の準備は終わった。あとは出発するばかりだ。
りょこうのじゅんびはおわった。あとはしゅっぱつするばかりだ。The preparations for the trip are done. All that remains is to depart.
料理は全部できたから、あとは盛り付けるばかりだ。
りょうりはぜんぶできたから、あとはもりつけるばかりだ。All the cooking is done, so all that’s left is to plate it.
