Pattern

Used to express that a certain state or action continues throughout a period, or that something is achieved through a medium or method.

There are two main uses: (A) for expressing continuity over a span of time, and (B) for expressing means or methods. Both forms are interchangeable.

Attach to nouns representing time spans, means, or media. '通じて' and '通して' are mostly interchangeable.

この地域では一年を通じて温暖な気候が続く。

このちいきではいちねんをつうじておんだんなきこうがつづく。

This region maintains a mild climate throughout the year.

留学期間を通して多くのことを学んだ。

りゅうがくきかんをとおしておおくのことをまなんだ。

I learned a lot throughout my study abroad period.

SNSを通じて世界中の人々とつながることができる。

エスエヌエスをつうじてせかいじゅうのひとびととつながることができる。

You can connect with people all over the world through social media.

子供たちは演劇活動を通して協力の大切さを学んだ。

こどもたちはえんげきかつどうをとおしてきょうりょくのたいせつさをまなんだ。

The children learned the importance of cooperation through drama activities.
