Pattern

Used when one topic or detail is temporarily put aside in order to prioritize discussing something else more important.

Often used in business or formal discussion to redirect the topic.

Attach to nouns, especially those referring to earlier topics.

細かい問題はさておき、まず全体の方向性を決めましょう。

こまかいもんだいはさておき、まずぜんたいのほうこうせいをきめましょう。

Let’s set aside the small issues and decide on the overall direction first.

挨拶はさておき、さっそく本題に入りましょう。

あいさつはさておき、さっそくほんだいにはいりましょう。

Let’s skip the greetings and get straight to the main topic.
