Used when considering a hypothetical situation and what would follow from it.

Often used to introduce a supposition and draw conclusions or imagine consequences.

Attach to the plain form of verbs, adjectives, or nouns.

明日地震が起きるとしたら、どこに避難すればいいですか？

あしたじしんがおきるとしたら、どこにひなんすればいいですか？

If an earthquake were to happen tomorrow, where should we evacuate to?

彼が犯人だとすれば、この事件はもっと複雑だ。

かれがはんにんだとすれば、このじけんはもっとふくざつだ。

If he is the culprit, this case is more complicated than we thought.
