Pattern

Used when making a guess or inference based on some observable evidence. It means 'it seems that...' or 'apparently...'.

Often used when observing someone’s behavior or situation and forming a reasonable conclusion. Not used for oneself.

Attach to the plain form (普通形) of verbs, adjectives, or nouns.

朝からパチンコに行くなんて、ずいぶん暇だとみえる。

あさからぱちんこにいくなんて、ずいぶんひまだとみえる。

Going to the pachinko parlor in the morning—he must have a lot of free time.

彼の顔を見ると、何かあったとみえる。

かれのかおをみると、なにかあったとみえる。

Looking at his face, it seems like something happened.
