Pattern

Indicates that something bad might happen if the current state continues. It suggests a negative outcome is possible.

Often used in written language or warnings. Expresses concern that something may result in a negative consequence.

Attach to the verb stem (ます-form without ます).

個人情報を公開しすぎると、悪用されかねない。

こじんじょうほうをこうかいしすぎると、あくようされかねない。

If you share too much personal information, it might be misused.

彼の言い方では、誤解を招きかねない。

かれのいいかたでは、ごかいをまねきかねない。

The way he says it could easily lead to misunderstandings.
