Pattern

Expresses an objective or commonly accepted judgment. It means 'that’s just how it is' or 'that’s what you’d expect'.

Used to give general evaluations or judgments in a matter-of-fact tone. Does not express emotions or personal feelings.

Attach to plain form of verbs and adjectives; use である for nouns and na-adjectives.

試験の前に勉強しないのは無謀というものだ。

しけんのまえにべんきょうしないのはむぼうというものだ。

Not studying before a test is just reckless.

この条件で契約しろというのは、無理というものだ。

このじょうけんでけいやくしろというのは、むりというものだ。

To sign a contract under these conditions is just unreasonable.
