Explanation
Used to strongly express a wish or desire, often in a reflective or general way.
Usage
Mainly used to express personal wishes or ideals, especially in writing. Not used for direct requests or specific demands.
Formation
Attach 'たいものだ' to the stem of the verb, or 'てほしいものだ' to the て-form or negative form + で.
Examples
いつか世界一周旅行をしてみたいものだ。
いつかせかいいっしゅうりょこうをしてみたいものだ。Someday, I really want to travel around the world.
これ以上、自然を壊さないでほしいものだ。
これいじょう、しぜんをこわさないでほしいものだ。I sincerely hope we won’t destroy nature any further.
