〜に伴って・〜とともに

Pattern

Indicates that one change happens along with another. Often used for broader social, physical, or systematic changes.

に伴って is more formal and common in written texts. とともに is more neutral and slightly literary. Used with words like 増加, 変化, 進歩.

Attach to nouns or dictionary form verbs that express change or transition.

テクノロジーの進化に伴って、新しい産業が生まれてきた。

テクノロジーのしんかにともなって、あたらしいさんぎょうがうまれてきた。

With the evolution of technology, new industries have emerged.

年齢とともに考え方も変わってきた。

ねんれいとともにかんがえかたもかわってきた。

As I got older, my way of thinking also changed.

人口の増加に伴って、交通渋滞も深刻になっている。

じんこうのぞうかにともなって、こうつうじゅうたいもしんこくになっている。

As the population increases, traffic congestion is also getting worse.
