Pattern

Indicates that the result or outcome depends on the preceding condition or situation.

Often used in formal writing or speech to show that something is determined by the stated factor.

Attach to a noun indicating a deciding factor, such as '努力' (effort) or '結果' (result).

成功できるかどうかは、本人の努力次第だと思います。

せいこうできるかどうかは、ほんにんのどりょくしだいだとおもいます。

Whether one succeeds or not depends on their own effort.

会場の雰囲気次第で、イベントの印象が大きく変わります。

かいじょうのふんいきしだいで、いべんとのいんしょうがおおきくかわります。

The impression of the event greatly changes depending on the atmosphere of the venue.
