Pattern

Indicates a special case or exception. Used to state that something applies only to a specific group or condition.

Formal usage, often seen in written explanations or notices. The following sentence states that only the mentioned exception is applicable.

Attach to nouns representing exceptions or limited conditions.

学生証をお持ちの方に限り、入場は無料です。

がくせいしょうをおもちのかたにかぎり、にゅうじょうはむりょうです。

Admission is free only for those who have a student ID.

本日限り、会員様に限り特別セールを開催しています。

ほんじつかぎり、かいいんさまにかぎりとくべつセールをかいさいしています。

Today only, we are holding a special sale exclusively for members.

このルールは、18歳未満の方に限り適用されます。

このルールは、じゅうはっさいみまんのかたにかぎりてきようされます。

This rule applies only to those under 18 years old.
