Explanation
Indicates strong conviction or belief that something is certainly true based on some evidence or logic.
Usage
に違いない is more common in conversation, while に相違ない is more formal and written. Used when speaker feels confident about a conclusion.
Formation
Attach to the plain form of verbs and adjectives. For nouns and na-adjectives, use である + に違いない / に相違ない.
Examples
彼は優しい人だから、きっと助けてくれるに違いない。
かれはやさしいひとだから、きっとたすけてくれるにちがいない。He’s such a kind person—he’ll definitely help.
この書類は本物であるに相違ない。
このしょるいはほんものであるにそういない。This document must be genuine.
