Explanation

Used to indicate that something is of low value or not important. Can express modesty or disdain depending on context.

Usage

Used to downplay the importance of something or show humility. 'なんか' and 'なんて' are more casual and spoken; 'など' is more formal. Often followed by a negative or dismissive expression.

Formation

Attach to nouns or noun phrases.

Examples

私なんかが行っても役に立たないと思います。

わたしなんかがいってもやくにたたないとおもいます。

I don’t think someone like me would be of any help.

この問題など簡単すぎて説明する必要もない。

このもんだいなどかんたんすぎてせつめいするひつようもない。

This problem is so easy, it doesn’t even need explaining.

彼なんて信じられない。
