Explanation
Expresses moral or social norms, such as what people generally should or shouldn’t do.
Usage
Used for statements that reflect common sense or shared social values. 〜ものではない expresses disapproval.
Formation
Attach to the dictionary or nai-form of verbs.
Examples
他人の話を途中でさえぎるものではない。
たにんのはなしをとちゅうでさえぎるものではない。You shouldn’t interrupt others while they’re speaking.
人との出会いは大切にするものだ。
ひととのであいはたいせつにするものだ。One should cherish encounters with others.
