〜ことだし

Pattern

Used to state a reason or condition among others, often to justify an action. It emphasizes one reason while implying others exist.

Often used in conversation to introduce a reason followed by the speaker's opinion, suggestion, or decision.

Attach to the plain form of verbs, i-adjectives, na-adjectives (with だ), and nouns (with だ).

明日は試験も終わったことだし、ちょっと遠くまでドライブに行こうか。

あしたはしけんもおわったことだし、ちょっととおくまでドライブにいこうか。

Since the exams are over, how about we go for a little drive?

今日は天気もいいことだし、散歩に出かけましょう。

きょうはてんきもいいことだし、さんぽにでかけましょう。

Since the weather is nice today, let’s go for a walk.
