〜（か）と思うと・〜（か）と思ったら

Pattern

Indicates that one event is immediately followed by another. The speaker observes and describes sudden changes.

Not used for the speaker’s own actions. Often expresses surprise or rapid change.

Attach to the past form of a verb (Vた形).

雨が降ったかと思うと、すぐに止んだ。

あめがふったかとおもうと、すぐにやんだ。

Just as it started raining, it stopped again.
