〜ゆえ（に）

Pattern

Used to express a reason or cause in a formal written style.

It is a stiff written expression used in letters, formal statements, and official contexts. It is not used for ordinary everyday conversation.

Attach ゆえに to noun + の, to the plain form, or to forms such as ナ-adjective + な and noun + である.

不慣れなことゆえ、いくつもの不手際がございましたこと、どうかご容赦ください。

ふなれなことゆえ、いくつものふてぎわがございましたこと、どうかごようしゃください。

Because this was something unfamiliar to us, there were several shortcomings; we kindly ask for your understanding.

構想ばかり述べたゆえ、実行力に欠けると思われたのかもしれません。

こうそうばかりのべたゆえ、じっこうりょくにかけるとおもわれたのかもしれません。

Because I spoke only about ideas and plans, I may have been seen as lacking the ability to carry them out.

市民の理解が得られなかったゆえに、新たな施策は改めて見直しを迫られることになった。

しみんのりかいがえられなかったゆえに、あらたなしさくはあらためてみなおしをせまられることになった。

Because the understanding of the citizens could not be gained, the new measures ended up being forced into review once again.
