Explanation
Used to express that if someone is in such an undesirable state or condition, a bad result will probably follow.
Usage
It is attached to sentences describing an undesirable fact or situation. The following clause usually states that something unfavorable will happen or that things cannot go well in that condition.
Formation
Attach ようでは to the plain form. With na-adjectives and nouns, forms such as 〜なようでは or 〜であるようでは are used.
Examples
細かな失敗をいちいち気にしているようでは、この職場ではやっていけないよ。
こまかなしっぱいをいちいちきにしているようでは、このしょくばではやっていけないよ。If you keep worrying about every little mistake like that, you will not be able to manage in this workplace.
私はどうも物忘れが多くて困る。こんなにすぐ忘れてしまうようでは、この先のことが不安だ。
わたしはどうもものわすれがおおくてこまる。こんなにすぐわすれてしまうようでは、このさきのことがふあんだ。I am troubled because I seem to forget things so often. If I keep forgetting this quickly, I feel anxious about the future.
提出した書類にこれほど誤記が多いようでは、とても安心して仕事を任せられない。
ていしゅつしたしょるいにこれほどごきがおおいようでは、とてもあんしんしてしごとをまかせられない。If the documents you submit contain this many mistakes, I cannot confidently entrust work to you.
