Explanation
Used to express that if a certain special condition is the case, one will do something or a certain situation is naturally expected.
Usage
It presents a special condition as a premise, and the following clause often expresses the speaker's determination, intention, wish, or judgment. It has a formal written nuance.
Formation
Attach とあれば to a noun or to the plain form.
Examples
家族のためとあれば、私はどんな苦労でも耐えてみせます。
かぞくのためとあれば、わたしはどんなくろうでもたえてみせます。If it is for my family, I will endure any hardship.
辺境の島での単身生活とあれば、不便なことも少なくないだろう。
へんきょうのしまでのたんしんせいかつとあれば、ふべんなこともすくなくないだろう。If it is a solitary life on a remote island, there will probably be quite a few inconveniences.
手術のために費用が要るとあれば、何とかしてでもお金を工面しなければならない。
しゅじゅつのためにひようがいるとあれば、なんとかしてでもおかねをくめんしなければならない。If money is needed for an operation, then we must somehow manage to prepare it.
