Explanation
Used to emphasize that not even the smallest amount, shortest time, or least number is allowed or exists.
Usage
It presents the smallest unit as an example and strongly states that there is absolutely none. It usually attaches to minimal units such as one day, one moment, one millimeter, or one person.
Formation
Attach たりとも to '1 + counter' and use it together with a negative expression.
Examples
君のことは一日たりとも忘れたことがない。
きみのことはいちにちたりともわすれたことがない。There has not been even a single day when I forgot about you.
競技中は一瞬たりとも気を緩めてはならない。
きょうぎちゅうはいっしゅんたりともきをゆるめてはならない。During the competition, you must not let your guard down even for a single moment.
この箇所の寸法は一ミリたりともずれがないように仕上げてください。
このかしょのすんぽうはいちミリたりともずれがないようにしあげてください。Please finish the measurements of this section so that there is not even a one-millimeter discrepancy.
