Explanation
Used to express that an unusual or undesirable state continues as it is without being corrected.
Usage
It often describes a continuing bad state. It is frequently used to express dissatisfaction, criticism, or complaint that something has been left as it is.
Formation
Attach っぱなしだ to the masu-stem of a verb.
Examples
昨夜は照明をつけっぱなしで眠ってしまった。
さくやはしょうめいをつけっぱなしでねむってしまった。Last night I fell asleep with the lights left on.
知り合いに一年近く資料を貸しっぱなしになっている。
しりあいにいちねんちかくしりょうをかしっぱなしになっている。I have had some materials left on loan to an acquaintance for nearly a year.
一日中歩きっぱなしの勤務なので、夕方には足がひどく疲れる。
