Explanation
Used to declare that from a certain time onward, something that had continued until then will end.
Usage
It is often attached to words indicating time, such as today, this time, or this fiscal year. It is used for making a clear statement that something will stop from that point.
Formation
Attach を限りに to a noun, often a time-related noun.
Examples
来年度を限りにこの講座の受講生募集は打ち切られることになりました。
らいねんどをかぎりにこのこうざのじゅこうせいぼしゅうはうちきられることになりました。It has been decided that recruitment for this course will be discontinued as of next fiscal year.
今夜を限りに酒を断つと決めたよ。
こんやをかぎりにさけをたつときめたよ。I have decided that as of tonight, I will quit drinking.
これを限りにおまえとの家族としてのつながりを絶つ。もう兄弟でも何でもない。
これをかぎりにおまえとかぞくとしてのつながりをたつ。もうきょうだいでもなんでもない。From this moment on, I am cutting off all family ties with you. We are no longer siblings or anything else.
