Explanation
Used to say that something is true, but in addition to that, there is another point the speaker wants to emphasize even more.
Usage
The first point is acknowledged as valid, and then a second point is added as the stronger or more important emphasis. The following clause expresses what the speaker especially wants to highlight.
Formation
Attach もさることながら to a noun.
Examples
この小説家の文章は、鋭い感受性もさることながら、丹念に吟味された語句と文の構成が見事だ。
このしょうせつかのぶんしょうは、するどいかんじゅせいもさることながら、たんねんにぎんみされたごくともんのこうせいがみごとだ。This novelist's writing is impressive not only for its sharp sensitivity, but even more for its carefully chosen wording and excellent sentence structure.
