Explanation
Used to express that someone does something while also having another purpose in mind.
Usage
It is a formal expression. It often follows nouns and is commonly used with verbs of going or visiting, such as 行く or 訪ねる. One action is carried out with an additional purpose attached to it.
Formation
Attach かたがた to a noun.
Examples
先生のお宅へお礼かたがたごあいさつに伺おうと思っています。
せんせいのおたくへおれいかたがたごあいさつにうかがおうとおもっています。I am thinking of visiting my teacher's home to offer greetings as well as my thanks.
ご報告かたがた一度お伺いしたいのですが……。
ごほうこくかたがたいちどおうかがいしたいのですが……。I would like to come by once as well to give you a report.
訪問かたがた祖母が暮らしている介護施設を訪ねた。
ほうもんかたがたそぼがくらしているかいごしせつをたずねた。I visited the care facility where my grandmother lives, partly for a visit and partly with another purpose.
