近ごろ、インターネットやLANを通じて行う、いわゆる電子会議が普及している。
電子会議の利点は、参加者が一つの会場に集まらなくてもよい点だが、利点はそれだけにとどまらない。
一般の会議では、周りの視線が気になり、だれか（とくに目上の人）が話しているあいだ「聞いています」という姿勢を示そうとしてしまう。
その結果、実は思考のほうが止まりやすい。
一方、電子会議なら周囲を意識する必要がなく、自分の考えを途切れさせずに他人の発言を聞ける。
そのため、新しいアイデアが生まれることが多いのである。
