Used to describe a state that continues after an action in the past.

Common for conditions like being married, living somewhere, or knowing someone.

Verb in て-form + います

私は東京に住んでいます。

わたしはとうきょうにすんでいます。

I live in Tokyo.

彼は3年間結婚しています。

かれはさんねんかんけっこんしています。

He has been married for three years.

私はカメラを持っています。

わたしはカメラをもっています。

I have a camera.
