Pattern

When まえに comes after a time expression or period, の is not used.

Put the time expression or period before まえに, then add the second action.

Quantifier(period) + まえに + V2

バスが来る１０分まえに、家を出ます。

ばすがくるじゅっぷんまえに、いえをでます。

I leave home 10 minutes before the bus comes.

試験の１時間まえに、教室に入りました。

しけんのいちじかんまえに、きょうしつにはいりました。

I entered the classroom one hour before the exam.
