Pattern

A directive form used mainly by teachers or parents when giving instructions to students or children. Can also be used in instructions for tests.

Gives a firm but not overly rude command. Commonly used in educational or parental contexts.

Attach なさい to the stem of a verb (ます形 without ます).

もっと早く起きなさい。

もっとはやくおきなさい。

Wake up earlier.

ここに名前を書きなさい。

ここになまえをかきなさい。
