Pattern

Used when saying that something unusual or occasional may happen. Not for things that happen very frequently.

Indicates that a certain action or state may occur from time to time, but is not the norm.

Dictionary form or negative form of a verb + ことがあります

冬は雪のために電車が遅れることがあります。

ふゆはゆきのためにでんしゃがおくれることがあります。

In winter, trains may be delayed because of snow.

忙しいときは昼ご飯を食べないこともあります。

いそがしいときはひるごはんをたべないこともあります。

Sometimes I skip lunch when I'm busy.
