Pattern

Explanation
Used to clearly contrast the actions, qualities, or situations of A and B, or to indicate an action directed toward something.
Usage
Expresses 'in contrast to', 'toward', or 'against'.
Formation
Attach に対して to a noun, or to the plain form of a verb/adjective (with の in between for adjectival or nominal clauses).
Examples
都会の便利さに対して、田舎には静けさがある。
とかいのべんりさにたいして、いなかにはしずけさがある。In contrast to the convenience of the city, the countryside has tranquility.
新しい計画に対して多くの意見が寄せられた。
あたらしいけいかくにたいしておおくのいけんがよせられた。Many opinions were submitted regarding the new plan.
先生の提案に対して、学生たちは賛成の声を上げた。
せんせいのていあんにたいして、がくせいたちはさんせいのこえをあげた。In response to the teacher's proposal, the students voiced their agreement.
