Pattern

Used to bring up a related topic when something is mentioned, or to introduce what one really wants to say by using the mentioned topic.

Often used to switch topics smoothly or reflect on something that was mentioned. Can be used as a reaction to others’ words or one's own memories.

Attach directly to the noun or the dictionary form of verbs and adjectives.

このワイン、イタリアのお土産ですか。イタリアといえば、来月そちらで旅行をするんだそうですね。

このワイン、イタリアのおみやげですか。イタリアといえば、らいげつそちらでりょこうをするんだそうですね。

This wine is a souvenir from Italy? Speaking of Italy, I heard you'll have your trip there next month.

彼の提案、いいといえばいいけど、ちょっと現実的じゃないですね。

かれのていあん、いいといえばいいけど、ちょっとげんじつてきじゃないですね。

It is good, yes, but I think it’s a bit unrealistic.
