Used to emphasize that someone's behavior or attitude changes noticeably when a certain topic is involved.

Often expresses a stronger or more serious reaction than usual.

Attach to nouns. Optionally use 'のこと' for emphasis or clarity.

彼は動物のこととなると、いつも冷静な性格が一変する。

かれはどうぶつのこととなると、いつもれいせいなせいかくがいっぺんする。

When it comes to animals, his usually calm personality changes completely.
