Pattern

Indicates doing something in line with or according to a certain policy, guideline, rule, or intention.

Common with words like 方針 (policy), ルール (rule), 意向 (intention). The sentence describes proceeding in accordance with that standard or guideline.

Attach to nouns. Use に沿った + N when modifying a noun.

会社の方針に沿って、新しい計画が進められている。

かいしゃのほうしんにそって、あたらしいけいかくがすすめられている。

A new plan is being developed in accordance with the company’s policy.

この講義では、カリキュラムに沿った内容が学べます。

このこうぎでは、カリキュラムにそったないようがまなべます。

In this course, you can study content aligned with the curriculum.

お客様のご希望に沿って、商品を提案させていただきます。

おきゃくさまのごきぼうにそって、しょうひんをていあんさせていただきます。

We will suggest products in accordance with the customer’s wishes.
