Explanation
Although something is true, the expected outcome or consequence does not follow.
Usage
Used when acknowledging a fact but stating that the result is different from what might be expected.
Formation
Attach to verbs, い-adjectives, and な-adjectives in plain form. とはいうものの also attaches to nouns.
Examples
彼は経験があるとはいうものの、このプロジェクトは初めてなので不安です。
かれはけいけんがあるとはいうものの、このぷろじぇくとははじめてなのでふあんです。Although he has experience, I'm worried because this is his first time on this project.
